Future Chef Competition

Faith Burton and Olatunde Odu, having previously won the school final, competed against three other schools and were judged by four professional chefs. All students had to prepare a 2 course meal for 2 people with a total budget of £7 within 90 minutes. It was an incredibly tough environment, working in industrial kitchens with unfamiliar equipment and chefs watching and marking their every move. The students were judged on: skills and techniques; creativity and presentation; menu and nutritional balance plus composition, taste and flavour.


This is the first year that Queensbury Academy has entered the Future Chef competition - an annual competition organised by Springboard and sponsored by industry - and makes their students’ achievement even greater as they were competing against schools that had entered in previous years and knew what to expect.


Olatunde Odu as winner of the event will now go on to the regional finals in February and will be mentored for the competition by Head Chef at Luton Hoo.
