Glens Falls Highlighted by Yahoo

Our "Hometown USA" was recently spotlighted by Yahoo, specifically in Yahoo Life, the lifestyle section of their site.

Yahoo says, "The city has become a perfect travel destination as it is home to scenic views of the Adirondack Mountains, exciting outdoor activities, and gourmet dining establishments like Morgan & Co that will satiate any hungry visitors."

They also shout out the Chapman Museum as a top spot for history buffs, the gorgeous fall foliage, outdoor adventure opportunities at places like Adirondack Adventure Center that is 15 minutes away, plus the Warren County Bikeway and Cole's Woods. And, the Adirondack Salt Cave for holistic healing.

They missed including The Hyde Museum, which rivals New York City art museums, but there's just so much to love about Glens Falls it's tough to fit it all into one article! What would you add to reasons to visit Glens Falls?

Texas Smoke and Local Brews in Downtown Glens Falls

SlickFin beer glass

Downtown Glens Falls is getting a new flavor this fall. Slickfin Brewing and Carnivore Brothers BBQ are joining forces to open Fire Mission Smokehouse & Taproom at the corner of Glen and Park Streets, in the former Go Play With Your Food location. The restaurant is set to open October 23.

The new spot brings together three military veterans and local business owners: Kris and Heather March of Slickfin Brewing in Fort Edward, and Justin Prescott of the Carnivore Brothers BBQ food truck. Fire Mission will serve as a Slickfin taproom, featuring eight beers on tap, with plans to expand and include a full bar of New York State beer, wine, and spirits.

Prescott, who hails from just east of Dallas, will offer true Texas-style barbecue—meats sold by the pound, cut to order, and seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and garlic. He says the focus is on letting the wood and smoke do the work, though sauces will be available for those who want them.

The team hopes to create a relaxed, family-friendly space that stays open later than most local restaurants—catering to everyone from dinner-goers to the after-hockey crowd. With generous portions, a veteran-led team, and a mix of barbecue and brews, Fire Mission Smokehouse & Taproom is shaping up to be a welcome new addition to the Glens Falls dining scene.

Glens Falls' Newest Trail Officially Open: Pruyn's Path Connects City to the Waterfront

Haviland Cove Park
Haviland Cove Park

The city of Glens Falls is celebrating the official opening of a new recreational space: the Pruyn's Path Interpretive and Exercise Trail.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on August 19, 2025, brought together local leaders, residents, and outdoor enthusiasts to mark the completion of the project, which has been in development for several years. The new trail is expected to be a welcome addition for both locals and visitors, providing a scenic route for walking and biking.

The path is more than just a place to exercise; it's a key piece of the city's larger plan to connect its natural and urban environments. Running for 0.9 miles along the north bank of the Hudson River, the trail links the downtown area to Haviland’s Cove Park and the Hudson River waterfront.

According to officials, this project aims to boost tourism and economic development by enhancing walkability and providing a new, accessible destination for everyone to enjoy.

Pruyn's Path also serves multiple functions beyond recreation. It's designed to teach local history through interpretive signs and also helps with crucial environmental efforts, including water drainage and preventing erosion. The trail is a perfect example of community partnership, with city and state officials highlighting the successful collaboration that brought the long-awaited project to life.
