Queensbury has a successful sixth form with 300 students in Years 12 & 13. We offer a wide range of subject options mainly focused around AS & A Levels but with a number of vocational BTEC & Cambridge national awards. Students are able to choose from over 25 different subjects ranging from the traditional academic A Levels to the more vocational courses like Sport, Health & Social Care and Fashion. This broad curriculum offer is aided by our close collaboration with Manshead School, through which students have access to more courses and opportunities.
We are very pleased with our exam results in the Sixth Form and each year around 70% of Year 13 students go onto Higher Education, studying a wide range of courses and gaining places at many of the best universities in the country.
Students in the Sixth Form have access to a dedicated Common Room and use the library and study areas, allowing them to effectively use study time to complete their work.
There are a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities available, including sports teams and regular fund raising events such as Talent Shows. Many subject areas run educational visits to support their students’ learning and understanding of the course content.
Sixth formers play an active role in the wider life of the Academy: through various student leadership opportunities and also by supporting our younger students. This makes Queensbury a particularly enjoyable and rewarding school in which to pursue Sixth Form studies.
